Christmas Bingo 02

Christmas Bingo 02Educational bingo games are a great way for pupils to learn so many different skills. They help with listening skills, visual discrimination, group work, turn taking and the reinforcement of the learning content of that particular bingo game.

This bingo game focuses on the theme of “Christmas” and it features typical Christmas images. It is aimed at a group of six pupils, so it would be useful for Station Teaching or for Aistear work on the theme of Christmas.

Pipes of Peace

This video is a song written by Paul Mc Cartney, one of the Beatles. It tells the true story of Christmas Day 1914 when the British and German troops lay down their weapons for the day, shared some food and played a game of football together. This could be used as a great introduction about war and conflict, especially at this time of year. It could also be used as a starting point for some creative writing.

Christmas Talk About

Christmas Talk AboutThis is an oral language activity that can be done with pupils from about first class upwards (unless the teacher reads the topics on the card for the infant classes). On each card is written a Christmas-themed word. The purpose of the activity is for the pupils to talk about the word for as long as they can, aiming for at least a minute, which can be quite a long time for some pupils. The more you do this activity, the better pupils become at it. The aim is to develop fluency of thought, speech and delivery.
