Peg Calendar 01
This seasonal peg maths resource is aimed at pupils in middle classes or SEN pupils. It is based on the pupil’s ability to read the calendar. It contains a one-month calendar for a December, followed by twelve question cards based on the calendar. The pupil reads the question on the left of each card (or a teacher/SNA may read it to them) followed by the three possible answers on the right of the card. They then place a clothes peg on the answer that they think is correct.
Number Puzzle 01
This resource is aimed at pupils in junior/middle classes or SEN pupils who are working on numbers. It is based on the consolidation of numbers in the range 15-24. The resource features six puzzles using a variety of Christmas images.
Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut each one up into ten separate strips. Laminate another piece of A4 card. Adhere a long strip of velcro to the laminated card at the top and the bottom. Adhere a square of velcro to the top and bottom of each of the ten strips. The pupil then uses their knowledge of number order to position the strips correctly using the velcro to reconstruct the image.
Christmas Shopping
Because of the emphasis on shopping at this time of the year, it gives the teacher the perfect opportunity to focus on money in maths work. Last year, I “invested” in a class set of Argos Christmas Gift Guide catalogues to focus on money and budgets. Just get any gift catalogues and try some of these activities with your pupils:
