Christmas Sentences 02

christmas_sentences_02This resource is aimed at pupils in first to third classes or SEN pupils. Its purpose is to assist with the understanding of both sentence structure and reading for meaning. These Christmas sentences are made up of six words.

Laminate all of the pages in the resource. Cut out the six sentence strips and the corresponding words, which are colour co-ordinated to assist with matching. Place velcro in each of the empty boxes on the sentence strips and on the rear of the individual words.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Using Lámh Signs

If you have pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in your school that use the Lámh Signs, it might be a good idea to teach this traditional Christmas song to all of the pupils in your class/school. Doing something like this with the whole class/school promotes inclusion and allows all pupils to learn some Lámh signs in a fun way.

Match The Silhouettes 01

match_the_silhouettes_01This seasonal activity features ten different Christmas-themed images. It is aimed at the development of visual perception. Pupils have to match the silhouette to the Christmas-themed image.

Laminate all pages in the resource. Cut out the silhouettes and all of the matching baseboards. Place velcro in all of the blank boxes on the baseboards and at the rear of the silhouette images.

Peg Calendar 01

peg_calendar_01This seasonal peg maths resource is aimed at pupils in middle classes or SEN pupils. It is based on the pupil’s ability to read the calendar. It contains a one-month calendar for a December, followed by twelve question cards based on the calendar. The pupil reads the question on the left of each card (or a teacher/SNA may read it to them) followed by the three possible answers on the right of the card. They then place a clothes peg on the answer that they think is correct.

Say It Think It 01

say_it_think_it_01This resource is aimed at pupils with poor social skills who need practice in knowing the difference between thinking something and saying it aloud, especially at Christmas time. This resource also aims to develop categorisation skills as well as to encourage oral language and discussion on the topic.

Pages 1-4 should be laminated. The small squares on pages 3-4 should then be cut out. Velcro should be attached to the squares on pages 1-2 and at the back of all cut out squares from pages 3-4. With a teacher/SNA working with a pupil, pages 1-2 are placed on the table.

Number Puzzle 01

number_puzzle_01This resource is aimed at pupils in junior/middle classes or SEN pupils who are working on numbers. It is based on the consolidation of numbers in the range 15-24. The resource features six puzzles using a variety of Christmas images.

Laminate all of the pages in the resource and cut each one up into ten separate strips. Laminate another piece of A4 card. Adhere a long strip of velcro to the laminated card at the top and the bottom. Adhere a square of velcro to the top and bottom of each of the ten strips. The pupil then uses their knowledge of number order to position the strips correctly using the velcro to reconstruct the image.

Silly Christmas Sentences 01

silly_christmas_sentences_01This resource is aimed at junior/middle pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on literacy. It focuses on Christmas-themed sentence construction in a fun way. There are eight pages in the resource which should be laminated and cut up into 32 separate cards. Pupils choose four cards and put them together in the correct order to make the silly sentence. The colour-coded strips on the last page of the resource are to show pupils the order in which to place the cards in order to make the sentence.

Christmas Food & Decorations Sorting

Categorisation is an important skill for younger/SEN pupils to develop. This resource aims to develop categorisation skills as well as to encourage oral language. This sorting activity focuses on Christmas Food and Decorations.

Pages 2-5 should be laminated. The small images on pages 4-5 should then be cut out. Velcro should be attached

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Let It SnowThis is a seasonal, fun literacy exercise for junior pupils, SEN pupils or those with literacy difficulties. Pupils have to fill in the gaps to complete the seasonal song, “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”.

Laminate both sheets in this resource. Cut out the five images on pages 2 and adhere them using Velcro to the five spaces at the bottom of page 1.
