3D Paper Snowflakes

I’ve seen these paper snowflakes done in school and they are really effective and look fantastic. They probably do need lots of adult supervision as they are quite fiddly and it’s very easy to make a mistake. However, the finished product is really impressive and they look great for decorating the classroom during the seasonal period.

Peg Calendar 01

peg_calendar_01This seasonal peg maths resource is aimed at pupils in middle classes or SEN pupils. It is based on the pupil’s ability to read the calendar. It contains a one-month calendar for a December, followed by twelve question cards based on the calendar. The pupil reads the question on the left of each card (or a teacher/SNA may read it to them) followed by the three possible answers on the right of the card. They then place a clothes peg on the answer that they think is correct.

Buster the Boxer

“Buster the Boxer” is the much anticipated Christmas TV advert for 2016 from the John Lewis department store in the UK. It tells the story of a little girl called Bridget who loves to bounce. When her mum and dad buy her a trampoline for Christmas, they soon discover that she isn’t the only one with a passion for jumping.

Against the soundtrack of “One Day I’ll Fly Away”, Buster looks on as two foxes, a badger, a hedgehog and a squirrel enjoy bouncing on the trampoline.

Bookmarks are a good incentive for reading for pleasure and it’s good to encourage pupils at this time of the year to continue reading for pleasure. There are three bookmarks per page. If you find that the bookmark is still too large, set your printer options to print two pages per page.

Say It Think It 01

say_it_think_it_01This resource is aimed at pupils with poor social skills who need practice in knowing the difference between thinking something and saying it aloud, especially at Christmas time. This resource also aims to develop categorisation skills as well as to encourage oral language and discussion on the topic.

Pages 1-4 should be laminated. The small squares on pages 3-4 should then be cut out. Velcro should be attached to the squares on pages 1-2 and at the back of all cut out squares from pages 3-4. With a teacher/SNA working with a pupil, pages 1-2 are placed on the table.
